The lid of the ice bucket is surmounted by a wonderful cast bronze wild boar’s head. The casting is very fine quality, with plenty of detail and character. The boar’s head also serves as the handle for lifting the lid from the ice bucket. He has glass eyes, a charming shape, and a very tactile quality: he feels satisfying in the hand.
The boar sits above a silver plated bowl which retains its original liner. There is a small knock on the rear side of the bowl – it’s very hard to see but please view the video and images. There are some scratches on the underside, as would be expected, and a little wearing to the plating around the rim, all commensurate with age and affectionate use.
A fantastic and rare ice bucket in lovely condition.
