Vintage Design
Mid-century Murano sommerso diamond-shaped ashtray / vide poche by Flavio Poli for Seguso (Murano, Italy, 1960s). Made of thick green, orange/yellow and clear glass. It is extremely decorative. Can be used as a display piece on any table. Height: 6 cm / 2.4”; length: 13 cm / 5.1”; width: 13 cm / 5.1”. Excellent vintage condition. Few usual scratches from use at the base.
“Sommerso” (Italian for ”submerged”) is a technique developed in Murano in the 1930s which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
