Large Chinese Antique Ancestral Shrine Architectural Altar Temple

A magnificent Chinese Qing Dynasty (1636-1912) architectural ancestral shrine.

19th century, China, most impressive monumental size, exceptionally executed in traditional ancient Chinese architecture timber-frame temple hall form, exquisitely hand-crafted and heavily carved with intricate details on the sloped roof and throughout the ornate frame, elaborately decorated layered front with Dougong interlocking wooden brackets over ornate relief carvings and latticework, partial raised gallery fenced entry, retaining some signs of faded gilt decor and lacquer throughout the structure. Ancestral shrines were important religious items throughout most Asian countries. The fine quality, intricate ornamentation and massive scale of this religious architectural building model indicate it must have came from a wealthy and likely prominent family.

Retaining remnants of the red wax export seal on the rear roof, indicating it’s authentic and was legally exported out of China in accordance with their antiquites trade laws.
