MINUS is a monomaterial lounge chair that has the maximum expressiveness with the simplest gesture: The piece, though seemingly simple in geometry, pushes the technical performance of aluminum as a material. The MINUS chair is composed of a bent 10mm aluminum sheet, without any welding, additional elements or ornament, just raw aluminum. A repurposed car spring is used to control the swing of the seat, giving a unique character and making the chair surprisingly comfortable. It’s hard to tell which is the typology of the piece: lounge chair, rocking chair, single sofa or just collectible design. MINUS is a timeless classic with an iconic yet practical aesthetic that blurs the line between furniture and sculpture.
