Pair of elegant silver candlesticks on a sweeping, oval base with stepped frame, at the foot of the shaft circumferential, corrugated zigzag band, foot pulled up in the middle and converging to a beaded ring with adjoining groove, conically widening, oval, edged shaft corresponding to the floor plan with repeating circumferential, grooved zigzag ribbons, attached vase-shaped spouts. Hallmarks: Diana head – Viennese official hallmark 1872 – 1922 for 800 silver ‘RS’ – Master’s sign for Rudolf Steiner ‘SCHWARZ & STEINER’ company mark, distributor (three intersecting circles) Start of business 1872, Gold, silver and jewelery workers, Owners: Rudolf Steiner, Hugo and Julius Schwarz, Export: Germany, France, England, Belgium America ‘WÜRBEL & CZOKALLY’ further company mark of distributor Bibliography: Waltraud Neuwirth, Viennese gold and silversmiths and their hallmarks 1867-1922, Vienna 1976, Vol. II, L-Z, pages 202, 228, 371 Dimensions: height: 26.2 cm / 10.31 in width: 14.7 cm / 5.78 in depth: 12.2 cm / 4.80 in weight: 896 Grams / 31.53 OZ / 28.81 troy OZ.
