This exceptional 18th century Spanish silver set consists of a jug and four matching cups.
Each piece of this silver jug and cup set has a bell-shaped form onto a pedestal foot.
The body of each piece has a subtly planished finish and is embellished with a fine and impressive applied strapwork style design to the lower portion, accented with paralleling border in conjunction with the body.
The upper portion of each piece is encompassed with engraved decorated borders, accented with prism style applied designs to the broadest band, flanked with applied girdles in addition to an applied moulded border to the rim.
This antique jug is fitted with a fine and impressive cast silver spout, ornamented with an impressive mask design to the upper portion.
The cups and jug are each fitted with a cast and applied angular handle.
Such early examples of Spanish silverware are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
