Victorian Stick and Ball floor easel, circa 1890. Great for photos, weddings, and other events. Makes a charming display for a menu, seating chart, or welcome sign in a retail setting or restaurant. Or a lovely way to display art in the home. Easel is solid oak with its original finish; brass hardware. Measures 61 inches tall x 22 inches wide; can be used at a variety of depths from 15 – 22 inches. Brass shelf brackets adjust up/down to accommodate different artwork sizes. Collapses to store flat. Excellent condition.

With its curvy forms and beaded embellishments, Stick and Ball styles were widely used on wicker and rattan furnishings. The style was a part of the Aesthetic Movement and reflected the late 19th century craze for exotic motifs and Japonisme. The curvy design was a predecessor of bentwood furnishings later popularized by Thonet and others.
