Very beautiful Martaban style jar from the 19th century.
Its turquoise blue glaze called “Kingfisher” with oxidations indicates a production of Shiwan kilns in the province of Guandon. It is decorated with stylized birds and plants.
This type of jar was used to store food and water in the house and during boat trips. They were also used to package Chinese porcelain for export.
