Antique French Metal Portable Chaufferette Coal Box With Wooden Handle to Warm Hands While Tatting C1800’s

An antique French metal portable Chaufferette coal box with wooden handle. It was used while tatting* to warm the hands. It’s in overall good condition with button and sliders working just fine. It has two ventilations that open and close; one on the front and one on top, to let out the heat. Inside is where the Cole would have gone between the two metal pieces.

It is stamped “AV Paris Depose” on the front.

* Tatting is a delicate technique for handcrafting a particularly durable lace from a series of knots and loops
