Vintage Design
Along with Jakub Erol’s stylized design for the Polish release, celebrated Czech artist Milan Pecák’s imposing illustration of Arnold Schwarzenegger as ‘The Terminator’ is one of the finest and most sought after posters created for the seminal 1984 sci-fi blockbuster. Displaying a similarity to the work of Swiss sci-fi artist H.R. Giger, who was responsible for the visual design of Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien,’ the ghostly monochrome X-ray of the Terminator’s mechanical endoskeleton is accented by the color-pop red of his cybernetic eye beaming the model number CSM-101 and the electronic circuitry in Arnie’s exposed cranium. The critically acclaimed film launched Director James Cameron’s career and cemented Schwarzenegger’s, despite his only uttering 74 words of rudimentary dialogue as the time-travelling cyborg assassin.
Unfolded, conservation backed on linen. Backing has smoothed a 1.5 in. horizontal crease to neck. One tiny 0.25 in. restoration to right shoulder. Image and colours excellent.
